My illustrations suggest a whimsical mood expressed with the use of distinct bold and bright colors, playful abstract forms, and humorous themes and subjects.  Each image captures a unique style inspired from the unpretentious visions of my childhood.  My work has been described as “feel good art” and “art that brings the viewer back to the innocent qualities of their childhood”.  We often lose those qualities as we grow older.  My goal for each illustration is to challenge the viewer to re-discover their imagination.

I have been commissioned to do freelance work for The Larkin Company “condolence” cards, the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce Utility Box project and Community Directory, the cover of the children’s poetry book “Verses in the Valley”, the curriculum book cover for “Pig’s Can Be Purple and Turtles Can Dance”, and various brochures and flyers.  I’ve displayed my artwork in several Placer County and Santa Cruz County area shows, retail shops, restaurants, galleries, colleges, the Auburn Art Walk, the Roseville Public Library, Auburn City Hall, Gateway Gallery in Oregon and various on-line artist registries. My web site, www.sunraestudios.com contains examples of my work.
